Conference of Interior Ministers in Koblenz Chef Weise annoyed the Minister of the Interior
On the final day of the Conference of Interior Ministers in Koblenz, the responsible ministers have discussed the situation of the Federal Ministry for Migration and Refugees. Their head caused annoyance.
The head of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF), Frank-Jürgen Weise, had to swallow heavy criticism during his appearance at the autumn session of the State Minister of the Interior on Friday.
The department heads were angry on Friday. Weise was unable to answer their questions. "This was mainly disappointing, sometimes even frightening," said the North Rhine-Westphalian Interior Minister Ralf Jäger (SPD).
Overlooking the asylum applications, the Minister demanded more flexible working hours for processing. "One can also become active on Saturdays and Sundays", said the head of the Conference of Interior Ministers (IMK), Roger Lewentz (SPD), after finishing off the meeting. "Refugees cannot only show at office hours from 8.00 until 16.00 clock," Hunter agreed.
Many unanswered questions
The BAMF editing the asylum applications currently has 3,300 workers. Next year there are to be another 4,000. According to the Rhineland-Palatinate department heads Lewentz told Weise, it will at least last until May 2016 to reach the necessary amount of decision makers for the applications.
Weise had expressed the hope that 80,000 cases can be processed per month by then. The authorities said, according to chief participants, the reintroduction of the individual examination of Syrian refugees should not delay the process time significantly.
