SWRinfo - Wir haben die News. Jetzt!

The starting signal for SWR's brand-new news and information station will be given on 9 January 2012. From then on you can pick up SWRinfo on digital radio, on the internet and, in Stuttgart, on 91.5 FM. The new info station replaces the talk radio station SWR cont.ra and promises to inform you about everything that is important - in 15 minutes.

SWR Info Farbraum

SWR's brand-new news and information station

“Information is our core business” says SWR director Peter Boudgoust. Digital radio means a new age has started for radio broadcasting and SWR is there at its outset with its own new radio station SWRinfo. Boudgoust: “The promise to our listeners is: in 15 minutes the news guaranteed. In 15 minutes discover what is really important. In 15 minutes hear at least one topic that really interests me”. In doing so, SWRinfo will call on the professional competence of its editorial broadcasting staff.

Commitment to the southwest

SWRinfo starts broadcasting from 9 January 2012 onwards with news supplemented by weather forecasts and traffic reports daily from 6:00 am at quarter-hourly intervals. In addition, one will receive background information to current affairs, covering politics, business, health, science, technology, sport and the environment, as well as latest trends for the motorist and to computing and the home and garden. Thereby, the regional relationship with the southwest of Germany is at the centre of attention. Evenings at 8:00 pm, SWRinfo broadcasts ARD's flagship TV news, the "Tagesschau", and then the station's service will be rounded off by detailed background programmes, partly taken from other SWR radio stations. Here, an important form of distribution is DAB+ digital radio that replaces medium wave radio. Thus, SWR utilises the latest technology to broadcast its news and current affairs programmes.
