SWR cont.ra Those who want to know

SWR cont.ra, the information radio programme, offers extensive information on politics, business, arts, sport and all areas of society and public life. SWR cont.ra transmits information across all radio forms: a wide-range of news and current affairs programmes, detailed background reports, comments, interviews as well as classical radio features.

Starting from 6am through to 9am, then from 12am to 2pm, from 4pm to 7pm and again from 10pm to 11pm SWRcont.ra offers current affairs and news covering the events of the day from all over the world, Germany and the federal states of Baden-Württemberg and the Rhineland-Palatinate.

In addition, through using SWRcont.ra, listeners have the opportunity to hear what is absorbing and informative from SWR radio programmes in another programme environment and to different transmission times.

This includes highlights from SWR radio programmes such as SWR1’s daily talk show `Leute´, SWR2’s arts and culture programme, `Journal´ and SWR2’s discussion programme `Forum´, but also television programmes such as `Menschen der Woche´ and `Quergefragt´.

Sport, information and background

During the football season we broadcast on Saturdays the ARD’s legendary closing commentary conference covering the final twenty minutes of all of the games being played in the German Bundesliga.

We inform you immediately and first hand about all important current events. As SWR’s existing documentation channel SWR transmits important parliamentary debates.

At the weekend SWR cont.ra reports not only on current affairs at midday and in the evening, but also thought-provocative and background information about science, religion, leisure activities, media as well as topical information from sport. Major sport events are transmitted live.

Specialist reporting and the arts

There are fixed programme times for SWR’s specialist reporter teams whether `Economics and Society´, `Environment and Nutrition´, `Law and the Legal political framework´ , `Religion, Church and Society´ , `Science and Research´ and `Sport´.

There is topical coverage from the arts federal-wide and from Baden-Württemberg and the Rhineland-Palatinate. The multicultural magazine SWR International broadcasts twice a day information and advice.
